Belle Ombre
Belle Ombre Mauritius
Belle Ombre is the authentic Mauritius. Exceptionally preserved and unspoiled, the naturally beautiful coastal region was home to Irish botanist Charles Telfair. Formally a sugar cane plantation, many of its landmark buildings such as the old sugar factory and the original mansion built in the 1880s have been restored.
At the heart of the area is the Valriche Nature Reserve, a lush landscape overflowing with indigenous flora and fauna which can be explored on foot, mountain bike or quad bike. Deer, wild boar, monkeys and flying-foxes can still be seen in the area.
The nearby Chamarel with its vividly hued rolling ëcoloured earthsí.
Belle Ombre is host to the crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean, a marine-rich playground which is popular for diving, swimming with dolphins, kite surfing and other water sports. At the heart of Belle Ombre sits the world-class Golf du Chateau, and a second championship course is planned on the adjacent land. Belle Ombre offers some typically spectacular Mauritian beaches where visitors can enjoy the soft white sands and crystal blue waters.
