1time stops flying to Maputo
We’ve heard through the grapevine that 1time plans to stop flying to Maputo, Mozambique. Apparently they will stop on the 31 August 2011. This really would be a terrible shame if its true. 1time have been the airline pushing to bring cheap flights not only to the SA domestic market, but also international routes into other African destinations, such as Maputo, Zanzibar and Livingstone. This has forced the other airlines to lower their prices on these routes, as well as to some of them starting to also fly into Africa, which is all very good news. We’re not too sure yet why 1time airlines have decided to halt flying the Maputo route, but it was most likely as a result of poor profitability, as if they were making money, why would they stop.
