Parking at King Shaka International Airport

King Shaka International Airport is the new Durban International Airport and is located at the original La Mercy Airport site. The King Shaka airport became operational on 1 May 2010 with the last flight out of the old Durban International Airport on 30 April 2010 due to the limited size of the old Durban International Airport. The new designed airport is specifically focussed on providing an efficient and smooth flowing traffic to and from the airport.

The King Shaka International Airport contains 6,500 public parking bays, both in a short-term parkade and in a shaded medium-term parking area. There are specifically located pick-up and drop-off facilities directly outside the terminal to ensure easy access for arriving and departing passengers without the necessity of parking.
For those requiring parking for short or long term travel, there is a large amount of parking available at the airport within the airport’s multi-storey parking building, which offers over 1500 parking bays and over 3000 shaded parking bays in the parking area. Customers can book their parking online via the airports.co.za website, which is simple and efficient and allows bookings to be made up to six months in advance with a minimum stay of 24 hours and a maximum stay of 12 weeks. This can be paid for by credit card and includes a discount on the non-pre booked rate for parking.

As the changeover between the old Durban International and King Shaka International Airports is still relatively new, there are less operators offering parking services at the airport.
TPMS is one of the private companies offering valet parking services at King Shaka International Airport offering low cost secure valet parking for passengers.
Their standard service includes a complimentary hand wash and vacuum, and both medium and long term parking is available, as well as storage on request.
This service is offered for individual and corporate clients.

TPMS will collect the vehicle from the drop off zone and assist the passenger with luggage in necessary. The vehicle is then transported to their secure lock up facility with 24 hour security. Upon return, the passenger will be met by TPMS at the arrivals terminal and escorted to the vehicle.
Passengers can make use of this service either via telephone, email and their online booking request form.

With the ample parking available at King Shaka International Airport, passengers can have peace of mind that their vehicles are stored securely and economically while they travel.
